How To Arrange Your Furniture In Animal Crossing
The Perfect Arrangement
After you move into your new home, you will start to acquire random furniture and other household items from various sources. If you just throw all these mismatched items in your house, though, it will look like you are living in a thrift store. Your home should reflect who you are and what you like. Here are some tips to help you create a showcase for your personal style.
Moving Furniture
Experiment with which direction you want things to face – not everything should be pointed toward the front door. Stand facing the item and hold down the A button to grab the item. Use the Control Pad to push, pull or rotate the item. Alternatively, you can hold the stylus on your character and move it in the direction you want the item to face.
Storage
Some pieces of furniture give you access to a massive storage space that will hold up to 90 items – and you can store almost anything you want inside. Use the six colour-coded storage pages on the menu to organise your items into groups so you can find them easily later.
Funky Furniture
Many of your home furnishings are interactive and can add some extra life to your surroundings. You can watch TV, listen to music, play with instruments, sit in chairs or roll around on beds. You can even sit on a toilet that automatically flushes after you get up – isn’t technology wonderful? To activate an item, press the A button, or tap your character with the stylus. To sit on furniture, just move toward it – you will hop right up onto it.
One of the wackiest interactive items is the Lovely Phone, which you can use to call the Dial-a-Psychic Hotline for some telepathic words of wisdom. You can also get creative with the unique movement and sounds of gyroids – set them up to create bizarre audio and dance routines. Play some KK Slider tunes and watch them dance!
On Top
Some furniture will allow you to place small objects on top of it. This is great for items like clocks and table lamps that would look strange lying on the floor. This not only looks nicer, but it opens up floor space for other items.
Feng Shui Me!
Feng Shui is an ancient interioir-decorating philosophy based on the belief that the way your home is arranged will affect how life’s energy flows through it. In Animal Crossing it has been simplified to include three colours and three placement points. Some items will give you good luck no matter what – they just need to be placed inside your home. To see if your favourite pieces of furniture count towards your Feng Shui rating, look for it in the Complete Items List.
